    C&MA Spanish Literature Program

“Thank you very much for the stamps you sent to the stamp ministry.  The income from their sale goes to support preparation, publishing, and distribution of a Spanish language curriculum for Sunday Schools in Latin America.  More than 50 lesson series have been published and are being used in churches of 40 different denominations and missions in 19 Latin American countries.”

“In 2009 we sent $23,000 to the Sunday School project, and in 2010 we sent $22,000.  This brings us to a grand total of over $729,000 since the inception of the Stamp Ministry.  Thank you so much for your support in this vital ministry.”

We meet here at B.B.F. to trim the stamps on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of each month from 1:00-3:00  p.m.  We depend on each of you to save postage stamps and bring them to church.  We will do the rest.  Thank you so much.

Summer Day Camp was over August 11th. "It is an 8-week experience that focuses on limiting academic regression in math and reading skills over the summer months. This is an awesome opportunity to win children to Christ, help them grow in faith, and grow into Christian leaders in their communities." Program activities include: breakfast, lunch, arts & crafts, and field trips. Between math, reading enrichment, and Bible study sessions, kids learn valuable social skills and form new lasting friendships.

In Summer Day Camp 2010, 95% of the campers showed no regression literacy, and 84% inproved; 7% of the campers showed no regression in math, and 64% inproved.

In the fall other programs start that continue the work of leading youth to Jesus Christ and then help them to grow in that relationship.
  • Pray for the quality volunteers who give their time to assist the leadership and mentor youth.
  • Pray for health and strength for Ed and Tammy
  • Pray for spiritual growth for the youth, that they will be witnesses and grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Update on Carl’s dad:  Carl’s dad is improving each day.  The doctors tell him that he will rid his body of 99% of the cancers. He is also going to bone repair treatments as the cancer had spread to his bones.  This is a miraculous new medicine that repairs the bones only for those who have this type of cancer.  We thank the Lord for each day we have with him and for his improvements.
Praise the Lord for the time we had a Thanksgiving and Christmas, all of Carl’s family together.

Carl is recovering from his gall bladder surgery,  December 23rd.  He is in a lot of discomfort.  He should be able to go to Venezuela as scheduled the end of February.

Carl will go to Venezuela by himself the end of January and set up our bank account, housing, repair our car and check on our visas.  Josiah needs his 1 year vaccines the beginning of March then we will head to Venezuela to be with him.

Pray especially for visas.  God will open the door if this is where he wants us to be.

Pray for our finances.  We have received more support but will need more.   We have been saving money diligently and paid off our debt but will need more for start up expenses.  God is bigger, He will supply.

We have been in California for about 6 months.  In May we will be headed back to Tarakan.  Craig has been gone for 3 weeks of Kodiak training before we leave.  Pray for us as we continue to get ready.  We will continue to do the purchasing, packing & itemizing of things that we will need for the next 4 years.  Pray that we remember all we need and Pray that it will all arrive intact in Tarakan.  Pray much for us as time grows short and the list of things to do is long.  Pray for grace and peace in the midst of much activity.  Pray that our support will continue so we can continue to minister in Jesus name in East Kalimantan.

MAF provides flying services that include transporting evangelists and pastors to churches in the very outlying districts of every continent.  Very often they transport sick and injured to medical help or bring emergency medical help to places where ground transportation is impossible or too slow.

MAF’s MISSION IS: “Sharing the love of Jesus Christ through aviation and technology so that isolated people may be physically and spiritually transformed.”

ROOT, Summer - The Kaabong, Uganda, Africa
Updated August 07, 2011

Summer left for Uganda on Thursday, August 4th . She will join the team of a married couple, a single woman, and a single man. They will be together for 2 months then move into the Kaabong area. Tom and Jean are the leaders of the group. Jean is a veterinarian. They have ministered for 20 years in Africa.

The Kaabong are semi nomadic. Cows are their currency and culture. They are an unreached tribe. They need to know Jehovah Shalom, the God of peace.

The team will be sharing Jesus Christ with them through the chronological telling of the Bible stories. Summer is prepared to help with that aspect. They will live in tents.

Pray for team unity.

Pray they will be able to contact the Kaabong at their point of need.

Pray for the Holy Spirit to open the spiritual eyes of the Kaabong.

Summer will return November 4th to re-evaluate her mission and renew her visa.

Dr. Thompson has been working with African Medical accreditation committees to extend the approval from two to five years. They have evaluated the PAACS programs in Ethiopia, Gabon, & Cameroon. He has also been recruiting medical students to come to Bongolo for their residency in surgery. He challenged them to follow the teachings of Jesus: to help the poor, serve the sick, and faithfully proclaim the Gospel.

Together they attended the always encouraging Field Council that includes all the missionaries and their families. Their “new” digital x-ray machine now allows them to view the x-rays on computer screens rather than the viewer box. It took 4 years to get it operational, but the wait was worth it.

Pray that at least five of the medical students from Libreville will come to Bongolo Hospital.

Pray that the Gabonese government will accredit Bongolo Hospital’s ophthalmology training program and the nursing school.

Praise for the two Information Technology experts who arrived to help with Internet and Intranet.

Rachael will be able to continue at Bongolo Hospital.  She will be home schooling Dr. Kier and Joanna Thelander’s two children.  She will also work at the hospital in the Pediatric Ward reading to them, doing crafts, loving on them and being a witness of God’s love.  She does have to raise her support through the Christian and Missionary Alliance.  She would appreciate our prayers for her.

Dave and Becki Thompson continue to prepare for a transition.  At this time they are still working hard promoting the Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons (PAACS)  They continue to ask prayer that they will receive accreditation for their programs at Bongolo for their surgery residency, Ophthalmology residency, and other training programs at the hospital.

“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned to me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”

Updated September 18, 2011

After having served for four years, I am returning to those who sent me, accounting in person for what has been done with what has been given.  You give money and you pray, and it is a good thing for you to see and hear a report of how the money has been used, and what difference your praying has made.

I expect to get reacquainted with you all.  There are a few weeks that are set aside for being still and being home, but most of the year I will be traveling from point to point, sharing pictures and personal anecdotes.  I look forward to furlough, but leaving the Dominican “family” is hard.  September/October is Eastern USA.

Praise that each of the special summer-time events was completed without major problems, including visits from two international groups and a “congress” for children.

Praise that several ladies that I teach have finished studying basic Bible doctrines.  They each need to grow spiritually in specific areas.

THE WELL MINISTRY OF RESCUE / THE SARAH HOME FOR WOMEN - Chico, CA

Updated July 17, 2011

This is a year-long commitment for men and women, many of whom have committed crimes. They house hurting and wounded individuals who desire a life change. It is a 12 step spiritual program to bring them to faith in Christ and help them grow in that relationship so they can resist the temptations that led them astray, and they can become productive members of society. Most have addictions and will have to overcome them daily by God’s grace. They have Bible studies, discipleship training, and attend Bible-believing churches.

For vocational training and income for ministry expenses, the men have outreach programs including: auto sales and donations, auto detailing, a lube shop, landscaping, and general construction.

Pray that the participants will accept Jesus Christ and grow in their relationship to Him.
